A strong sense of community is a distinguishing feature of the Academy of St. Francis of Assisi. Building on this notion, we strive to develop the religious, academic and social aspects of the student. The students of the Academy of St. Francis of Assisi are encouraged to participate in the Student Council and become Franciscan Buddies, pairing older students with younger students. The school also offers a wide variety of other activities to our students.
Our students in grades 1 through 8 are encouraged to join our after-school Clubs, moderated by our faculty. The students can choose from Yoga, Arts and Crafts, Lego, and Sports to name a few.
Our students compete in many academic challenges including the Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee, the Elks Club Essay Contest, the John Brady Academic Challenge and the Mary Help of Christians Essay Competition.
Christian Community Service is a special component of faith community building here at the Academy. Students in grades six through eight are invited to join the National Junior Honor Society. Membership is based not only on academics, but just as importantly, community service. Students in grades three through eight actively participate in Sunday Masses at St. James of the Marches Church.
